I have been fortunate enough to make a solid, steady income from my Internet endeavors for many years. My first website went live in 1998 and obviously I didn’t build it myself; way back then I was a complete Internet “noobie”. But operating that first website, and constantly producing new, fresh content for it, sowed the seeds of a passion for discovery. I wanted to learn how to do everything myself.

I was already a credentialed writer, although I quickly discovered that in order to write successfully for an Internet audience, it was necessary to adapt my style significantly. Actually, most of what I had been taught in school, and later, college, needed a total rethink. Print content is one-dimensional and formally written. Online content needs to be interactive, dynamic and informal.

Of course, good composition, free of spelling and grammatical errors is essential for Internet writers. The majority of Internet writing is aimed as specific audiences, hence the author needs to research his audience’s demographics and address them personally.

Writing has always formed the backbone of all my business endeavors…

• I write on a very limited basis for just a few, well-paying clients I’ve accumulated over the years

Besides my original website, I have also developed a number of other websites and blogs centered around affiliate niche marketing, and to a lesser degree, Adsense. I quickly discovered that the more irons I have in the fire, the better, because with the idiosyncrasies of the Internet, and especially Google, I could wake up any morning and discover one income stream has vanished without trace.

I also devour every piece of information I can uncover about SEO (search engine optimization) and SEM (search engine marketing). I learned that this, above all else is an ongoing process. What worked last year demands a completely different approach today.

This website is a project I’m developing to help and advise others, especially anyone new to Internet marketing. As time permits, I shall be adding posts discussing a variety of subjects; I encourage visitors to add their comments and observations. Just remember, I shall be writing about what works best for me.

My targeted methods may not agree with those that many other marketers advocate, but I’ve never had a “herd mentality”, and one thing I learned very quickly is that many of the so-called Internet Gurus don’t necessarily offer you advice that is in your best interests, rather they provide you with solutions that, in one way or another, increase their bank balances.
